The patient's account, ready at discharge

We analyse how your patients, charges and insurer billing move, and help you choose and integrate the hospital system your clinic needs.

Admissions, records, pharmacy and billing on the same patient

A hospital information system (HIS) registers the patient once and follows them through scheduling, admission, medical records, pharmacy and insurer billing. Each encounter leaves its charges and an account ready to send.

Without that continuity, billing rebuilds accounts at the end, insurers query what does not add up and the clinic finances days of unbilled care.

Signs your company needs one

  • Insurers frequently reject or query claims
  • The unbilled backlog grows every month
  • Scheduling is in one system and billing in another
  • Patients miss appointments without notice
  • Pharmacy stock does not drop with care delivered
  • Medical records are still on paper at some sites

Charges never billed

What was used in theatre and not recorded at the time does not appear on the account. No one claims it because no one knows it is missing.

  • Cash that finances the insurers

Each query sends the account back to the queue. The days between discharge and payment are paid for with working capital.

  • Incomplete records

With duplicate patients and results on paper, physicians decide with half the information and the clinic answers complaints without evidence.

Hospital system analysis in four steps

We start from the rejected claim, not from a system catalogue. Each step is validated with admissions, pharmacy and billing before the next.

Diego Muñoz, process and technology consultant
  1. The journey of three patients

We follow an outpatient, an emergency patient and an inpatient from appointment to invoice, and note each piece of data requested twice.

  2. Patients, fee schedules and coverage

We review the patient register, the fee schedules per agreement and the rejection causes over the last three months.

  3. Clinical and billing requirements

We turn what we observed into prioritised requirements and compare two to four systems with a guided demo using your real cases.

  4. Migration plan and ERP connection

We coordinate the migration plan with the chosen provider and connect the system to your ERP and accounting.

Hospital system assessment and selection

We assess and help you choose

We analyse the patient journey and insurer billing, define requirements and help you choose the hospital system; then we coordinate with the provider and connect the system to your ERP and accounting. We do not offer our own implementation of hospital systems.

Revenue cycle assessment

Map of the patient journey, rejection causes by insurer and charge capture rules, written down and approved by you.

  • Hospital system selection

Prioritised requirements, a demo script with your cases and a decision matrix with three-year cost per option.

  • ERP and accounting integration

We connect sales, collections, pharmacy purchasing and accounting with the chosen system so nothing is keyed twice.

Hospital system: market options

In no order of preference. What weighs most is billing to insurers and EPS, Peruvian e-invoicing and the size of your facility.

Recognised platforms on the market

  • Epic
  • Oracle Health (Cerner)
  • InterSystems TrakCare
  • Medifolios
  • OpenMRS (open source)

Selection criteria

  • Electronic records with clinician signature and access log
  • Insurer claim files in the SUSALUD standard
  • HL7 or FHIR interoperability with laboratory and imaging
  • Support in Peru and a records migration plan

Hospital system assessment: 36 questions, 9 minutes

The analysis reviews scheduling, the patient account, IAFAS contracts, the medical record and SUSALUD compliance. The questions describe situations you can observe in admission, wards, pharmacy and billing.

Scored dimensions

  • Scheduling and patient admission. Looks at how appointments are booked, patients are identified and each consulting room is used.
  • Charges and discharge account. Looks at whether procedures, drugs and supplies are charged to the patient account at the moment they are used.
  • Payer contracts and IAFAS billing. Looks at how fee schedules and coverage are kept, how accounts are sent to each insurer and how their objections are followed up.
  • Medical record and results. Looks at whether the medical record is electronic, whether physicians use it during the visit and whether it receives laboratory and imaging results.
  • Access, contingency and SUSALUD. Looks at who views the medical record, how care continues if the system goes down and how submissions to SUSALUD and insurers are prepared.

What you receive

At the end you receive your clinic's level in each dimension and the gaps ordered by weight. Each gap comes with a first action your team can verify.

18 scored questions and 13 context questions (type of operation, size, current system). Context questions are not scored: they let us read the result against similar operations.

Free of charge. Only Diego Muñoz sees your answers.

Hospital system: frequently asked questions

No. We analyse the process, help you choose the system and coordinate with the provider, who implements it. We connect it to your ERP and accounting.

It is decided case by case: digitise everything, only active patients or only summaries. The cost and timeline of each option come out of the assessment.

Yes. It is where the cost is measured fastest. The assessment shows whether sorting out charge capture is enough or another system is needed.

We work with accounts and rejections without data that identifies the patient. Medical records are not needed; if a case requires them, they are reviewed on your premises with your staff.
