Central rules, operations in every store

A multi-store retail system sets products, prices and promotions in one place, restocks each store from its own sales, controls transfers in transit and consolidates till closings and targets per salesperson.

Without it, each store manages its own inventory and discounts, transfers are arranged by phone and head office consolidates closings and commissions in spreadsheets.

Signs your company needs one

  • In-store discounts have no approval by level
  • Transfers between stores are arranged by phone
  • Fast movers run out on the shelf
  • Targets and commissions are calculated in Excel
  • Each store has different price lists
  • Each store's till closing is consolidated by hand

Margin lost to discounts

Discounts and prices each store adjusts without a rule erode margin without any report showing it.

  • Stock in the wrong place

What one store has too much of, another lacks, and transfers without transit control end up as inventory differences.

  • Hours of consolidation

Each store's closings, sales and commissions are reconciled by hand every day and every month.

Multi-store retail analysis in four steps

The store comes first: prices, closings and transfers are tested in a pilot store before touching the others.

Diego Muñoz, process and technology consultant
  1. A day in two stores and at head office

We observe selling, closing, restocking and transfers in a large and a small store, and what head office consolidates afterwards.

  2. Products, prices and permissions

We review the product master, price lists, current promotions and who can give discounts.

  3. Configuration and pilot store

We configure Odoo with your restocking, transfer and pricing rules and go live in one pilot store with the warehouse.

  4. Roll-out store by store

We roll out to the other stores with closing and transfers already proven, and measure stock-outs and inventory differences.

From assessment to multi-store retail implementation

We implement this type of system

We implement multi-store retail with Odoo Point of Sale, multi-warehouse Inventory and Sales: central prices and promotions, replenishment, transfers with transit control, per-store closing and e-invoicing. If your case calls for another platform, we compare options against your requirements.

Multi-store retail assessment: 37 questions, 9 minutes

This assessment measures how a store chain runs its assortment, replenishment, transfers, checkout and targets. The questions cover observable situations in store, at the distribution center and in the office.

Scored dimensions

  • Replenishment and transfers. It checks how each store's replenishment is decided and how goods move from the distribution center or between stores.
  • Item master, prices and promotions. It checks the item master, the assortment by store and the central definition of price lists and promotions.
  • Checkout, closings and receipts. It checks each store's cash closing, the flow of sales to e-invoicing and accounting, and control of discounts, voids and returns.
  • Store stock accuracy. It checks whether system stock matches what is in each store and whether stockouts of top sellers are measured.
  • Store management and targets. It checks whether store managers and sales staff use the system daily, know their target, and whether each store sees its margin and promotion results.

What you receive

At the end you receive your multi-store operation level and the gaps by dimension. Each gap names the first verifiable change in stores, warehouse or checkout.

18 scored questions and 14 context questions (type of operation, size, current system). Context questions are not scored: they let us read the result against similar operations.
